Please help me identify the headset I need

Postby andrewnix0 » Fri Aug 09, 2013 23:17 pm

I've bought a Specialized Allez frame (2001) and need to get a headset for it (threadless forks), i know it's 1 1/8 inches (measured) however i'm not sure if I need an internal, external or it integrated as it's not as not as clear as I was hoping from diagrams i'd seen prior to the frame turning up. There's two images posted below of the top and bottom of the head tube.

Any advice on what to buy (or a link) would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,
That age it's likely to be an external headset.
You need to know the internal diameter of the headtube at the top & bottom then you can narrow it down.
FSA have a good PDF to donwload with all their headset dimensions on it to cross reference with your measurements.

this site says ritchey logic...

...which doesn't narrow it down much, but if you go to the ritchey site and look at the various types of logic headset you should be able to spot the matching one...

Thanks for your help, i've figured out (through your link and another source) that the headset was a Ritchey Comp Logic.

You can fit any 1.125" conventional headset - I'd recommend the FSA Orbit Xtreme - easily last 10 years IME
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
