castelli gabba size help

Postby carrock » Fri Sep 20, 2013 12:59 pm

any other (ahem) rugby build type chaps with a gabba?

I need to order one but nowhere locally has stock.

I am thinking I need size XXL ( My saxobank jersey made by another Italian manufacturer is XXL )

I am 5 ft 11 with 44/46 chest and wear 34 jeans ( although my actual waist is about 36/38 ) and weight just under 16 stone.

Thanks

I have tried a large on locally and I could zip it up but it was obviously too tight- only the 4 way stretch material allowed me to zip it up.

Only problem with ordering two sizes is forking out an extra nearly £200 and having to wait for a refund, but worth a thought if it comes to that

Carrock. We are a bit different shape but I have the Gabba in XXL. I am 6'2 and 13 stone about 33' waist. Wear XL in Assos and XL/L in Rapha (if that helps!). For Castelli I was recommended to go one size up from what I would normally wear. The fit is fine - it is not figure hugging, I can definitely wear an under garment if required.

just got my gabba in XL (am I the only one who can only say "gabba" in an aussie accent?)

haven't worn it on the bike yet, been too warm thankfully, but tried it on and it is definitely race fit - wouldn't want it any smaller.

I am 6"1, 86kgs, broad shouldered and 40/42" chest. I would have thought XXL will be snug on you, maybe XXXL if you want a slightly more easy fit

I'm 6"2 and 95kg, 44" chest, I wear jeans with a 34-36" waist (depends on the shop) ....I've got the long sleeve XXL, fits perfect.

thanks to all.

I am a few Cornish pasties heavier than matty but otherwise v similar so sounds like xxl is the one to go for.

I have ordered from hargroves as they are currently discounting these jerseys by 25%

Spanner in works

I'm 5ft 10. 85kg. 36 waist, 41 inch chest.

The large is absolutely spot on. I have the long and short sleeve.

The Gabba is the most correctly sized Castelli ever.

It's a racing jersey. It's meant to be tight. I'm 88kg and 42 chest and I wear a large.

I am thinking an XL may be the case then. The sizing info for for XL is 41 inch chest, but as can be seen from the pic, I have an untypical cyclists build, so still unsure...

XL will be the boy. XXL will be way too big.

I take XL in all Assos stuff, Large in Rapha. Large in Gabba is bigger than large in Rapha.

I'm in the same boat and agree with bendertherobot.

I'm a top heavy 185cm and 85kgs and usually go for m in Rapha, but I do prefer a snug fit so the stuff in my pockets doesn't sag and move around. Ordered the XXL since my last Castelli stuff was XXL and fitted loose but bearable - plus I couldn't find XL and this was an impulse purchase! It arrived today and was way way too baggy and loose so it's going back. Checked out Hargroves and ordered the XL, although now having second thoughts if an L was maybe a wiser choice. Hmmm.....

Thing is size L according to the castelli size charts is 39 inch chest.

If you're top heavy and 13.5 stone you simply won't have a 39 inch chest

Waist wise the Xl will be ok as it is 34 to 36 waist, but it is only 41 chest.

The Xxl is 43 chest which should be ok but will fit 38 waist so may be baggy around the middle.

Will try both I think
