Garmin 810 selling at £284 Brand New

Postby pinarellokid » Sun Nov 03, 2013 17:47 pm

looking at the offer from Halfords for a Garmin edge
they come in at £315 including a 10% discount this weekend,
but when i add the 10% discount from British cycling they come in at £284

am i thinking about this too much or is this a bargain, just buy it.!!!!

Looks good to me. Investing in my 800 many a year ago was one of the best things I ever did (I like maps and numbers!)

OSM maps are more than good enough (and better than the garmin ones in many ways). Talkytoaster is a good place to start.

I bought the European ones - saves faffing about and you know you're covered should you want to tour.

How are you combining the BC and Halfords discounts - they told me this weekend you couldn't use the BC discount and their 10% weekend one together.

pay the price including the weekend discount, get it delivered to your local store, when collecting ask them to apply the British Cycling discount,
this involves a refund apply another 10% discount and buy it again with the discount applied

bit of faffing about but when it involves a refund of £31 its well worth it..

That said, I've just noticed the BC discount voucher says it includes sale items so I'm going to try tomorrow night for a Garmin 200.

Confirmed today you can use the BC 10% off at the same time as Halford's own 10% off - made a Garmin Edge 200 about £64!

I have just got Wiggle to price match Handtec on the Edge 810. Cost me £268 including postage. I then added the out front mount which is very good.
Had no issues downloading the free OSM and so far, I am very happy with it.

I have a 500, but the maps are useless to the point that you get lost every time you try to go somewhere new. If I get an 810 will I be able to use my existing 'courses' I've put together in Garmin Connect?
