Has anyone had a pinnacle bike

Has anyone had a pinnacle bike.
Pinnacle is the brand name for Evans Cycles own range of bikes. Not many reviews available so I would be interested in anyone’s experience of Pinnacle mountain bikes. Not too worried about components as these can be changed more interested in frame quality and geometry and what it rides like.

I’m looking at purchasing a rigid fork mountain bike for a bit of cross country in winter and bike packing the rest of the year. Will be doing long miles so not sure whether a test ride will be enough to gauge.

Made by (I belive) Merida, so no reason why it will be worse designed/built than a similar Specialized/Boardman/Carrera etc etc from the same factories.
That one looks very poor value for what you get, check out the much cheaper Voodoo Marasa (circa £360 last time I looked) at Halfords which has a similar spec, I know two very happy owners, the one uses the original tyres for light cross country use and then proper 32mm road tyres for commuting and road trips.

The Voodoo is a hybrid, the Ramin is a proper mountain bike. Not really a fair comparision.

Similar frame and geo, the name given it isn't really relevant, but for that money a decent front suspension bike could be bought and converted to rigid, either way it's poor value for money.

I'd think about buying the rockrider 8.1, sell the fork and fit a nice carbon number.

If you can afford a bit more then: http://www.realcycles.com/m1b0s311p3077 ... _29er_2013 Great discount, not great at full RRP though.

The advice aboutthe rockrider & some decent carbon forks is a very good option - would be light.

If you want a hybrid then Also look at: http://www.realcycles.com/m1b0s289p5971 ... _29er_2014
