You could barely move for all the carbon that was on display at the BH stand at this year’s Eurobike trade show.
Taking pride of place on its own bed of wood chippings was the Ultimate carbon hardtail with its integrated seatpost and other weight-shaving equipment.
The frame has been in development for two years and BH say it’s now one of the most advanced, lightweight frames on the market, tipping the scales at a claimed 1.2kg (2.6lb).
The new Evo Brake Mount is said to be 30 percent more secure than traditional mounts and BH claim it also reduces caliper vibration and increases stopping power. Up front the design team have repositioned the brake caliper so it’s less prone to being hit by trail obstacles.
The frame can be adapted to use both BB30 and Press-Fit 93mm bottom brackets via the use of an interchangeable machined aluminium section.
BH were also showing off their top-end Trail Hunter CS 9.9 trail bike, which comes decked in high-end kit including Fox’s Talas RL FIT forks, a mix of SRAM X0 and Shimano XT shifting, Formula R1 brakes and Mavic Crossride SLR 15 wheelset. All for €3,999 (approx £3,500/$5,815).
To the road
BH unveiled their G5 high-end carbon race bike earlier this year, and we had a closer look at the Eurobike show. The G5 9.9 comes with Shimano’s electronic Dura-Ace Di2 groupset and BH's G5 carbon fork and weighs in at a claimed 6.7kg (14.8lb). This featherweight racer will cost you a sweet €7,999 (approx £7,005/US£11,630).
For €2,000 (approx £1,750/$2,910) extra you can buy the G5 Ultralight which weighs a claimed 5.6kg (12.3lb) and has SRAM’s Red groupset, FSA Plasma bars and a Lightweight Obermayer wheelset.
Also new for 2010 is this Gira fixie made from Reynolds 525 steel. It has a flip-flop rear hub so it can be run with a freewheel too. The brown bar tape and saddle add a vintage touch to the €799 (approx £700/US£1,162) classic looking machine.
