Get set for the Devil Takes the Hindmost at BikeRadar Live

Race against Stephen Roche, Geoff Thomas and the HotChillee team

The Devil Takes the Hindmost is set to be one of the highlights of BikeRadar Live, with stars like Tour de France winner Stephen Roche, former England footballer Geoff Thomas and the all-women HotChillee Challenge Team taking part.

The circuit race kicks off at 2pm on Sunday, and the racing is set to be fast and furious as riders try to keep up with the pack. Because after an hour and fifteen minutes of racing, the last group each lap will be eliminated by the 'devil'.

Roche said: “I’m really looking forward to getting back on the bike and taking part in a competitive race. The Devil Takes The Hindmost is a great opportunity for cyclists to experience a top class race.”

Thomas said:  “I’ve ridden the Tour de France route a couple of times, so the chance to race against Stephen Roche, one of cycling’s great legends, is something I can’t miss. I think it’ll be a fantastic event.”

Other riders in the men's category include 2009 Imperial Winter Series winner Jerone Walters, ex-cycling pro Chris Ball and Team GTF.

The new HotChillee Challenge Team will be hoping for a strong performance in the women's race – especially as the event is sponsored by HotChillee, producers of the London-Paris 09 Cycle Tour.

The riders include Olympic bronze rowing medallist Elise Laverick, Emma Davies, a former professional cyclist who has competed at two Olympic Games, 19-year-old Alice Monger-Godfrey and London-Paris Cycle Tour 09 ride captains Rachel Przybylski and Peta McSharry.

Team director Sven Thiele said: “Women’s cycling is booming in Britain and the HotChillee Challenge Team cyclists are great role models for women. Top-level competitive cycling is a growth sport for women and The Devil will be an inspiring and challenging event.”

The top riders in the men’s and women’s races will share a prize pot of £2,000. The winners will also win a weekend’s accommodation for two at Roche’s MarinaHotel on Villeneuve-LoubetBeach in Nice.

Entry to the Devil costs £35 per person, which includes a weekend ticket for BikeRadar Live.
