Kinesis, best known for their aluminium framed bikes, are making a foray into titanium with the launch of their Racelight Granfondo Ti frameset, which we saw in prototype form at Core Bike earlier this year. We've now been told it's due to hit the UK at the end of July.
As the Granfondo name suggests, the new bike is aimed at the sportive rider rather than the out-and-out racer. The seat and head tube angles are fairly steep (73-74º depending on size; five sizes available from 51-63cm) but the head tube is longer than you'd get on a racing frame (17.5cm for a 57cm frame).
The frame has eyelets to fit mudguards and racks, and it also has long stays so there's plenty of clearance to run larger diameter road tyres. Kinesis say you can run 25c tyres with mudguards fitted and 28c tyres without. The seat stays are curved for a bit of extra cush on long rides while at the front end, the headset is integrated into the head tube and is completed by a carbon fibre fork.
Pricing has yet to be confirmed but Kinesis's Dom Mason told BikeRadar that it'll be in the region of £1,350-1,399. That includes frame, fork, carbon seatpost, clamp, headset and a stainless bolt set. More details are available on Kinesis UK's newly redesigned website.
