Andreu and Lluis Lacondeguy have signed a new contract with Kona Bikes on a two year deal to ride as part of the Kona Clump team.
The Spanish pair will be in good company on a team that already includes Paul Basagoitia, Grant ‘Chopper’ Fielder, John Cowan, and 18-year-old Canadian rookie Graham Aggassiz.
The Clump team will be representing the brand in events around the world, as well as appearing in films and testing Kona’s new kit to the very limit.
In addition to the Crankworx contests and the Nissan Qashqai Challenge, the rock ‘n’ roll-loving siblings will also be appearing in New World Disorder’s 10th edition this year.
Despite this hectic schedule Andreu and Lluis revealed that they’ve been riding a lot of motocross and BMX recently, working on getting maximum speed and airtime off the big jumps.
For Luis, the pressure is on to show he can deliver at the big events after injuries have frustrated his recent efforts, while Andreu is looking to build on his win at last year’s Crankwork Whistler Slopestyle event.
“Mountain bike jumps have to be huge, man,” says the enthusiastic Andreu at the prospect of some big air this year.
It’s hardly surprising then, that he’s looking forward to teammate Grant Fielder’s course design for this year’s White Style winter slopestyle competition. “We’re looking for 15-metre gaps. I hope that it’s happening for the upcoming season. Let’s see what the White Style will be like, Chopper did a great job the last two years.”
The Lacondeguy’s have been training hard in the snow of for the White Style, which will also be the first chance to see the pair riding their new bikes. It takes place in
