Tourist bodies in the South Pennines are looking for the best cycle routes in the area to go on a new website.
Whether you're a resident with local knowledge or a visitor who has stumbled across a gem of a ride, they'd like to hear from you.
The area stretches from Ilkley in the north to Holmfirth in the south and contains spectacular moorland, tree-lined valleys and picturesque stone-built towns and villages which have grown from old established local industries.
It is traversed by a network of bridleways and old packhorse trails, along with some fine canal towpath cycling. National Cycle Network routes in the area include a good chunk of the long-distance Pennine Cycleway.
Circular routes and linear routes with good transport links at both ends are wanted. If you email email@example.com, Rupert will supply you with a form on which to record route information and, if required, a map to mark up.
Routes can be on or off road and of any distance or difficulty. If you’ve got photos of your route, these would be appreciated.
The request follows the recent South Pennines Walk and Ride Festival, when a new cycle path was opened linking Keighley, Bingley and Shipley to the Leeds – Liverpool Canal.
