Pro bike: Filippo Pozzato’s Liquigas Cannondale SuperSix

Like much of Campagnolo's range the Record seatpost looks both classic and modern.

  • Filippo Pozzato's Cannondale SuperSix features an entirely unique paint scheme.
  • The SuperSix's front section joins the seat tube in a traditional looking lugged joint.
  • The head tube of the SuperSix carries a consistent outside diameter through its length but the steerer inside widens to 1 1/2
  • The SuperSix's sturdy bottom bracket joint is made as a single piece that includes most of the chain stays and part of the down tube for an extra-solid lower half.
  • Barza has created a special design for Pozzato and has been decorating frames in the peloton for years including those of current world champion Paolo Bettini.
  • Pippo's oversized SuperSix down tube makes sure there is no mistaking which race this bike was decorated for.
  • The Barza paint scheme has been meticulously cared for by the Liquigas mechanics - even the bottom bracket area is still pristine.
  • The hourglass seat stays of the SuperSix are designed to take the sting out of the road and are apparently stronger than they look.
  • The chain stays don't bother with a lot of complex curves as they make their way from the bottom bracket shell to the dropouts; they're just all business.

  • The Liquigas team's drivetrain is a mixture of Campagnolo and Cannondale.

  • Besides the chainset and bottom bracket Cannondale stays true to the Campagnolo Record groupset (note the rubber frame protector rings used to stop the cable outer damaging the finish).
  • The rear derailleur is fixed to a relaceable aluminium hanger - one of the few bits of metal on the SuperSix frame.
  • The largest sprockets of the Record cassette are titanium - and how clean is it!
  • The braze-on front derailleur requires a clamp adapter (and we're guessing it's a Shimano bit by its shape and the strategic placement of that Liquigas decal).
  • Even the finish on the head tube-mounted housing stops are protected with rubber rings.
  • Like most of the Campagnolo sponsored side of the peloton Pippo uses the 'Red' version of Campagnolo's Record Ergopower levers with their slightly stiffer action.
  • Pozzato is a tall chap so he needs a 140mm stem to get his position comfortable.
  • Pippo prefers the classic feel of the traditional bend of these FSA Energy T bars.
  • Pippo records his bike's speed as well as his own with a Polar CS400 HRM and computer.
  • Like much of Campagnolo's range the Record seatpost looks both classic and modern.
  • fi'zi:k provides the saddles to Liquigas and Pozzato sits atop an Arione CX, pushed back almost as far as its carbon braided rails will allow.
