Pro bike: Ivan Basso's Cannondale Slice Hi-Mod Giro d'Italia

Like all Campagnolo-sponsored teams at the Giro, Liquigas' time trial bikes are fitted with the previous generation of Record componentry.

  • Cannondale have supplied Ivan Basso (Liquigas) with a special lighter-weight version of their Slice time trial frameset.
  • A special lay-up schedule has supposedly shed 150g from the frame, fork and seatpost.
  • Basso's time trial bike is now BB30-equipped for lighter weight - almost 1.6kg in total! - though he has now lost his SRM power meter.
  • FSA's Neo Pro crankset will now be part of the Vision lineup and Basso is using a BB30 version here.
  • Basso will apparently run 54/42T chainrings for Stage 12's long and undulating time trial.
  • The seat tube shields the rear wheel all the way from the bottom bracket up to the seat stays.

  • A bit of electrical tape apparently smoothes the lines around the computer transmitter - anything for even a fraction of a second.
