Spaniard takes over leader's golden jersey

Spaniard Alberto Contador of the Astana team won the grueling 209.5km Stage 13 of the Tour of Spain from San Vicente de la Barquera to Alto de L'Angliru Saturday, overcoming the devasting 23-percent grade leadup to the finish to take over the leader's golden jersey.

Alejandro Valverde came in second, 50 seconds behind Contador. Joaquím Rodríguez finished third, ahead of Contador's Astana teammate Levi Leipheimer and CSC-Saxo Bank's Carlos Sastre, who lost 1:33 to Contador today.
