British retailer Halfords has a huge presence in the UK, with bicycle and cycle accessories making up a large chunk of the company's sales. As such, Halfords is now one of the UK's largest suppliers of new bicycles with its stores becoming a favourite among those who are new to cycling. Additionally, Halfords recently revived its Cycle Republic chain of bike shops with multiple stores now dotted across the UK.
Halfords stores stock bikes of all shapes and sizes, from road and mountain bikes to cyclocross models, BMX bikes and hybrids.

Carrera Subway 2
Incredibly common on the streets of the UK, and for very good reason, the Carrera Subway 2 is available exclusively from Halfords. For its modest asking price there's plenty of decent kit including a lightweight all-alloy chassis, a 3x9 Shimano Altus transmission and hydraulic disc brakes from Clarks. It offers superb value for money and narrowly missed out on a full five stars when we reviewed it earlier this year.
Best road bikes from Halfords
Halfords currently sells a massive range of road bike models with prices ranging from only a few hundred pounds to nearly £5,000. Below are a few standout models that we've reviewed and rated highly.
Boardman Road Team Carbon
If you're after a sorted road bike and have around £1,000 to spend then Boardman's Road Team Carbon remains one of the best options out there. The Team Carbon's proven carbon chassis delivers a responsive and exciting ride which punches far above most at this price point.

Boardman MTB Team 29er
The MTB Team 29er hardtail was reworked by Boardman earlier this year and ended up scoring a full five stars with our testers as a result. We were blown away with the spec sheet and even more impressed by the impeccable handling on offer. Put simply, it's a really great bike at a fantastic price.
13 Incline Alpha
Another top rated bike from the Halfords shop floor is the Incline Alpha from in-house brand 13 Bikes. This fun little hardtail offers a ride that undercuts nearly all of its competition with honorary mentions going to its quality frame and decent air-sprung fork.
As a longstanding alternative to the Boardman MTB Team 29er mentioned above, The Bizango from Halfords-owned VooDoo has been a major player among the affordable mountain bike market for a while already, and we can't see that changing anytime soon. It's a great value bike with an impressive spec list that manages to top pretty much every test it features in.
Boardman Team FS
Full-suspension bikes at this price certainly are not born equal. Luckily, the Boardman Team FS is quite literally grand for a grand. This model was always a good bet, but a recent overhaul has added to both its climbing traction and confidence when descending.
Here's another stonking value mountain bike that you'll only find in Halfords stores. The people behind the Canzo knew exactly what they were doing in terms of its geometry, meaning the ride can embarrass certain bikes listed at twice the price.
Boardman Pro FS
We already know that Boardman's Team FS is a banger of a bike for £1,000 but for those with deeper pockets Boardman makes this, the Pro FS. The spec and ride quality manage to punch miles above what we'd expect for a bike that retails at just £1,500, and for 2017 it's even made in a larger 20in frame size, too.

Boardman CX Team
Boardman's CX Team is another outstanding introduction that arrived when the company's range was revised last year. Retailing for a quid under £1,000, the CX Team includes a carbon frame and fork as well as SRAM's Rival 1x wide-range single-ring transmission and hydraulic disc brakes. Its ride didn't disappoint either, meaning the CX Team scored a near-perfect 4.5/5 when BikeRadar reviewed it last year.
