Q: I noticed when reading through the March issue of the magazine that you reviewed the Dolan City Cross. Do you have any idea what it is like as a cyclo-cross frame because I'm considering building one up for next season? >

A: The City Cross is Dolan's cyclo-cross frameset built up as a commuter/ trainer. Because the cyclo-cross season is very short, many need a machine that's able to justify space in the garage, and fitted with 'guards and road tyres it makes a very competent trainer/commuter. >
The aluminium frame lacks the supple charms of steel, but coupled with a carbon fork it makes for a surprisingly compliant ride off road. And sensibly, the horizontal top-tube makes the machine very easy to shoulder in rough conditions.
Frankly, if you are looking for a cyclo-cross frame that could slip into a different set of clothes and do both jobs very well, Dolan's City Cross is well worth a look.
