"A great simple and solid system – only down side is the faff of the initial fixing"

Pendle’s first roof-mounted system is pure simplicity.

A single length bar attaches to square or oval roof bars via two metal fixings. The front has pretty cumbersome 8mm bolts, so you’ll need to fish out the spanners. 

The bike is attached through the fork dropouts, with the rear wheel sitting on a metal trough, held on by a nylon strap.

Added stability comes from a second strap that fastens around the down tube, and the rack is both 20mm through-axle and quick-release compatible.

The beauty of this rack is the way bike can be fixed or released in a matter of seconds. The only downside that tools are required to mount and remove it, which does take time. That's only a problem if you need to frequently remove and fit it.

    I thought the current line of forks from all suspension manufacturers say not to use on a fork mounted roof rack as the stresses casued by this type of attachment can cause issues with the forks? I think mounting that way is a great idea, but have never used this type of system for a number of years due to the warranty issue and potential failure inducing stresses...

    Has this thought now changed to say that fork mounted roof racks are acceptable again? I think it looks a much neater system and helps reduce the overall stack of the vehicle and bike height if the bars are tucked down...only drawback is where to stick the front wheel - either get a roof mounted carrier or make sure there is space in the car for it.

    Most fork manufacturers except Pace / DT Swiss are fine with them. Fox and Rock Shox specifically mention how to fit and check their forks on a roof rack. We researched all this before launching the product, but it is always wise to double check before you buy.
