This sturdy tubular metal rack fits virtually any car, from saloons to flat-backed MPVs. When not in use, it folds up and will fit in any boot.

U-shaped legs with rubber feet fold out to sit against the boot and the top leg can be set at various different angles via some sprung metal pins and a series of holes. Meanwhile, the usual spider’s web of six fabric straps with hooks holds the frame onto the car.

The bikes hang from their top tube on height-adjustable, plastic coated metal arms secured by more webbing straps. Many cars therefore hold the bikes high enough to clear the number plate and lights, which means you won’t need a lighting board. You can also set one arm higher than the other – handy if you’ve got bikes with steeply sloping top tubes.

There’s no movement of the rack when driving, although you’ll need to take your time and ensure you’ve strapped the bikes down properly before you set off. The loose straps are too easy to lose.

    Very easy to use, fits very well onto my Peugeot 306, and therefore any other hatchback car. There are 4 securing ropes attached to the rack - 2 hook onto the top of the tailgate and 2 hook to the bottom of the tailgate. The rack also comes with a further 2 adjustable hooks which you can use on either side of the rack to make it even more secure (good for longer journeys). Also comes with 2 straps (no hooks) for tying the bikes securley to the rack.

    All in all, does a very good job, easy to use, simple to pack away, quick and easy. Fits 3 bikes with no problems, nice and adjustable. Comes with rubber bike protectors on the racks to stop the rack from scratching your bike.
