VDO A4+ Cycle Computer (09) | $25.22
BikeRadar verdict
"Unbeatable value for a cordless computer"
Once you wrap your head around the confusingly written instructions, this entry-level cordless unit in the VDO range is really straightforward to use.
For such a low-cost option there are plenty of pleasing surprises from the A4+, starting with the fact that the spoke magnet is compatible with both round and aero spokes, which is something we’d like to see more often.
The head unit can be fitted in-line with the stem or on the tops, but it’s fixed to a base unit with a bayonet fitting that looks a little flimsy, so we’d recommend you avoid using force to fit it.
Many cordless cycling computers come unstuck trying to get a signal when you need to mount the head unit further away, often between the tri-bar extension tubes on a time-trial bike, but the VDO exceeded all of our expectations by working without a hitch up to a metre away from the fork-mounted sender unit.
The dual display shows your current speed alongside information from one of the odometer, clock and trip distance modes. It would be churlish to expect more than this for the sub-£20 asking price of the A4+, but for a further fiver you can buy the A8+ model if you want an average speed mode to help gauge your performance.
You won’t find the A4+ lacking in many other areas though: our test unit was completely unaffected by interference from a powerful HID light that we had sitting alongside the computer’s head and even a dowsing in water failed to spoil our high opinion of this product. Not at all bad for a cordless computer that weighs in at around 62g.

User review of VDO A4+ Cycle Computer (09)
We like the computers of VDO on the trips we have done so far. We are using a slightly higher spec. but they are reliable and do a fantastic job at measuring the obvious like Kms, Trip etc. The ones we use also have altimeter and give % of the climb very useful for inquisitive minds.
