Petzl Signal Review - BikeRadar

The Signal headtorch joins the E+Lite in Petzl's Emergency range. It's small and, at 23g, as feathery as you can get. 

While it's powerful enough, it still isn't a match for standard bike rear LEDs – though it is easier on the eyes for those behind you.

Typical of Petzl, build quality is very good and it's waterproof to a metre in depth so you needn't fear downpours. 

There are two modes: a steady light from a single LED and a flashing light from three LEDs. Claimed visibility is 1000m with 180 degree peripheral visibility.

It comes with an elastic strap so you can wear it round your head for touring and running, or tie it to things. 

It also has an integrated clip, which attached securely to both the loop on my commuter pack and to the straps of my Giro helmet – though it won't work with lids with thicker retention systems, like those from Bell.

The unit is powered by two slimline lithium CR0232 batteries, which are included, with a claimed 120 hours in blinking mode and 40 hours in constant. Shelf life is excellent, so the Signal will happily sit forgotten in your pack or panniers, ready to go in an emergency.
