"Small but perfectly formed unit that’s ideal as a helmet light."

Excellent focused reach for its power and weatherproofing makes the Stella a great helmet light. It boasts decent run times and quick recharge. It's a bit under-powered for bar-mounted use but makes a great point-and-shoot helmet unit or minimalist race beam.

On lumen count alone, the Stella is left standing by other lights, but typically for Light and Motion it punches well above its weight. The central beam gives excellent long-reach clarity, making it an ideal head mount light.

While peripheral illumination is dramatically dimmer, you can get away with using it as your only illumination on well rehearsed racecourses or roads.

The tiny waterproof battery drops into a pocket or strap mounts on bag/frame, with the rubber ends stopping it sliding around.

Run times are ample, and it recharges really quickly too.

The bar mount is complicated but secure, though the supplied lead is untidily long.

It’s not as light or cheap as its tiny, single LED size might suggest.

  • Jez reviewed one of these on our blog a while back. He uses it for winter commuting and is pretty happy with it although it gets used on the bars instead of the helmet.
