Cateye Single Shot Plus EL610 | $152.98
BikeRadar verdict
"Offering dependable quality and a handy amount of power"
Two one-Watt LED's face backwards against the reflector in this unit, and the light and beam pattern it gives out are very good with quite good side visibility too thanks to the small light-spill windows.
Switching on is always in flashing mode first, you can then cycle through to high and low power modes via the sealed rubber covered switch at the rear.
The mounting will fit almost anything, and the whole light, charger, mounting and performance lives up to Cateye’s deserved reputation.
We’ve had a production one of these for over a year now, we’ve abused it, and it still kicks out nearly the same burn times and has never gone wrong.

User review of Cateye Single Shot Plus EL610
The mounting bracket on mine broke; when I returned it to the shop they reported another break and there seem to be plenty of similiar reports out there. Maybe it happens because the light is heavy, and alot of the weight is in front of the mount. Damn bright when it is working, the EL530 is supposed to have similiar candlepower (in the centre of the beam) but the SingleShot+ completely out-beams it.

Pro's
This a very bright front light, regularly used for daily commuting in the unlit country lanes in Wiltshire. It is rechargable so you don't have to worry about batteries. The light is easily removed from its' fixing mount when required.
Cons
I have had to return this light twice due to the fixing bracket breaking. In short the light is too heavy for the mounting bracket and the lumps and bumps of daily commuting on British roads!!!

I can confirm what the other 2 reviewers have said - the bracket broke on mine too. Cateye /LBS replaced it no trouble and now the same thing has happened again. This time I've got my money back - there is clearly a design fault. Maybe Japanese roads are a lot better than UK ones, but it's a serious disappointment from a company with a reputation like Cateye - especially as this a great light and rechargeable too. Fortunately I managed to get a replacement by getting star letter of the month in Cycling Plus and now have a Busch and Muller Ixon IQ! I'll see how I get on with that and then post a review.

Same here, had two, both broke, pity as pretty good light otherwise, replaced with a Hope Vision 2.

Too bad about the bracket. I usually buy CatEye lights *because* they standardized the bracket! I'll get the light anyway, maybe I can reinforce the bracket somehow.
Where exactly did it break?

User review of Cateye Single Shot Plus EL610
I bought one of these a few weeks ago and, to date, it has been excellent. I noticed that the instruction pack came with an added insert due to the "new bracket design" so maybe Cateye have taken on board some of the negative press about this achilles heel in an otherwise excellent product. Nice and bright, easily toggles between bright/dim to maximise battery life when going through well lit villages, etc. Now, let's see if it lasts through the winter...

User review of Cateye Single Shot Plus EL610
I have had one of these for over a year and have used it for night time commuting on unlit country roads. I was very pleased with the light until recently when I noticed condensation on the inside of the lens cover. On dismantling the light to dry it out, I found that the on/off switch at the back was not a sealed unit as described above and that the rubber gasket between the torch body and the lens cover had been put in crooked and was also allowing water to get in. As I hadn't dismantled the light before this, I have to assume that it wasn't put together properly in the first place. The condensation has made marks on the reflector, however this doesn't seem to have affected the brightness of the light and I continue to use it however, I've had to come up with a way of stopping water getting in at the switch. Thank god for cling film!
I would give it four thumbs up if I hadn't had this problem.
