Oxford Anchor Force Bolt Down Anchor (09) | $79.50
BikeRadar verdict
"Confidence-inspiring heavy-duty lock point suitable for multiple bikes"
Oxford Products' AnchorForce ground anchor is the burliest we've come across, and the industrial looks alone should make thieves think twice about trying to nick your bike.
Not only that, but it has received the highest possible rating from Sold Secure, the independent testing organisation administered by the Master Locksmiths Association – motorcycle gold. This means it should be impossible to break using the tools an average thief carries.
Once fitted in a garage, shed or patio, the open design means there's plenty of room to pass several chain locks through the anchor if you have more than one bike to secure. The downside is it's easier for thieves to attack with power tools.
The AnchorForce consists of two thick hardened steel layers which are designed to be bolted, one on top of the other, into concrete using the supplied expander bolts.
It's relatively simple to fit if you follow the instructions, although you will need some pretty beefy drill bits (5/16in and 5/8in), which aren't supplied.
Hardened security balls and caps are provided – if you hammer these on top of the bolts, thieves won't be able to unscrew them.
Unfortunately, we found that the hammering in of the security balls and caps actually loosened the expander bolts slightly, meaning that the anchor didn't clamp to the ground as tightly as we would have liked. Having said that, there wasn't enough of a gap for thieves to be able to lever it off the ground.
