Chrome Metropolis Messenger Bag | $198.88
BikeRadar verdict
"Superbly made – only the stabilising strap lets it down"
The build quality of this tough messenger bag is simply superb, with a PVC liner suspended within a tough Cordura outer shell, cut to fold inwards to completely keep rain at bay, and city-friendly details including a daisy ring for an LED and reflective stitching.
In use, the bag sits stably along the body rather than across it, so even if it’s fully loaded, it doesn’t impair sight across your shoulder.
The only feature we didn’t get on with was the stabilising chest strap, which is awkward to adjust and runs quite high under the armpit.
An airplane-style buckle (chrome, naturally enough) makes quick work of cinching it in nice and tight, and can also be used to take the bag on and off – be careful not to let the heavy buckle swing out and clump passers by.
In terms of sizing, the Metropolis is one rung down from Chrome's 49 litre (3000 cu in) Kremlin yet still swallows up more than you’re likely to need, thanks to a 33 litre (2000 cu in) capacity and 66x36cm size.
