North Face Crank 25 backpack £79

Spacious bag

BikeRadar score 3/5

The Crank 25 oozes durable quality – and, as you’d expect with the North Face heritage, the internal layout of the pockets is fantastic.

Honestly, we could take days tweaking and resorting our kit into an ever more perfect and convenient layout. Details like generous zip pulls and a fleece-lined gadget pocket just add to the warm feeling.

You can cram a lot of kit in here too, and if you don’t fill it completely, you can compress the excess down with the straps of the helmet carrier. It’s a solid construction that we reckon will last you well.

The only downside is that it doesn’t mould to your body like competitors like the Osprey Talon 22 or the Evoc Freeride CC, because it’s smaller and wider. As a result, we felt it pulling in a solid mass, especially on the hip belt.

So while this is without doubt an incredibly well made and well featured bag, we’d prefer something with more supple appeal for really technical riding.
