Wingnut Hyper 3.0 Hydration Pack
BikeRadar verdict
"Buy one of these packs — sooner or later, you’ll thank us"
Super-light riding packs made for nutters who like to ride all day and night – does that sound like you? If you ride a lot, like to keep the weight of the backpack you carry to a minimum and hate packs that shift about while riding, this pack is for you.
Carrying stuff while riding is bad enough; it’s much worse if your bag weighs a ton even when empty and doesn’t fit properly. The Hyper 3.0 is very light at 547g thanks to lightweight reinforced ripstop Dimension Polyant nylon sailcloth fabric, and the removal of all non-essential features.
What you get is a large main compartment with separate waterproof zip closure divider for a three-litre bladder (not supplied).
Either side of the main compartment is an easy-reach pouch with waterproof zip, and each pouch has an angled nylon mesh stow pocket on its outer surface.
There’s no padding, just rubberised nylon web shoulder sections for zero slippage and the ‘low-rider’ pattern nylon straps which allow the pack to be worn much lower on the rider’s back than, say, a CamelBak. Fully loaded or empty, the Wingnut Hyper simply stays put.
Because everything sits down low, your upper back and shoulders are more free to move on the bike and there's noticeably less back sweat.
The distinctive Wingnut Sidewings wrap around your hips for extra stability and extra quick access storage. Another noticeable advantage of the low design is that you don't hook up on low hanging branches.
Sometimes you’ll want more internal organisation features, which is where the likes of CamelBak and Lezyne backpacks do well. The Hyper’s shoulder straps are so light that they’re hard to put on without having to untwist them. The hydration pack hose routing options aren’t brilliant, although they’re far from the worst we’ve come across.
Super tough and built to go the Hyper 3.0 loses any unnecessary bells and whistles for improved performance. A different, comfortable and versatile way to carry and one of the best pack designs for the bike.

Top notch bit of kit.
More comfortable than my old Mule, even with a bigger load.
Its great being able to get at stuff in the side wings without having to take the pack off, too.
If you want a pack with decent capacity and already have a bladder, or even if you don't, this should definitely be one to look at.
