In British drizzle or an Irish 'soft day', you want dry kit at the end of your journey whether you're touring or commuting, and Agu is firmly into Ortlieb territory with these roll-top, waterproof panniers. Decent panniers don't begin and end with welded-seam, plastic-backed, heavy-duty polyester – but it's a great start.
The chunky top hooks move along the bag's top rail to suit, fixing firmly onto your rack with stiff Klick-Fix hooks, and there's a cord to undo both simultaneously, a bit like an Ortlieb bag.
The back is stiffened with a riveted backplate and has the usual cleat to hook behind a rack leg. Inside it's all one compartment, but there are a couple more in the Velcro-strapped lid: a small outside pocket with a waterproof zip, which isn't quite big enough for an OS Landranger, and a zipped mesh pocket under the lid, suitable for damp things you don't want in the main bag, like gloves or a lightweight jacket. The bag also has reflective decals and there's a tab where you could attach an LED light.
