Mucky Nutz Bender Fender mudguard review

BikeRadar verdict
"Discreet, lightweight and tight-fitting alternative to the competition, and cheaper too"

The new Bender Fender adds another choice to the already packed line-up of mountain bike mudguards, and we reckon Mucky Nutz are onto a winner.
This flat piece of plastic attaches to the brace of your suspension fork using the supplied Velcro straps and bends – hence the name – around your front tyre to prevent mud being flicked up into your face.
Due to the simplicity of its design, the Bender is seriously lightweight – in fact, we’re certain it’s the lightest guard available. Its stealthy look means it won't ruin the lines of your bike.
Fitting the fender doesn't take long but getting the Velcro straps to fit your fork/tyre combination can be fiddly. We ended up swapping them for cable ties, which can't be released as quickly for cleaning but resulted in a better fit.
Throughout testing the Bender proved consistently effective, keeping mud out of our eyes and off our bodies and bikes.

or you could just buy one!!!
Not mentioned in the review is how much muck is stopped from getting on your fork stantons and seals. We have also run them fixed to the rear trianglebrace. True it doesn't keep your back clean but, depending on you frame design, your shock should notice the difference.

Hmm! Evocative name - certainly you'll get mucky nuts with this very short mudguard lol! However its no better than the front mudguard on my Carlton Sports-bike and if a lorry passes when I'm blasting along, not only are there mucky nuts but very damp ones too if its raining ;)!

Great product for a very reasonable price. I got two; one for the forks and another for the seat-stay bridge. Used with a Crud Catcher, the fork mounted one effectively stops rubbish coming back over the bars (with the Crud Catcher blocking stuff coming back and up). The stay mounted one does a grand job of stopping muck coming up between your legs and getting the inside of your knees. It has the added benefit of protecting the shock.
Fast - free - delivery and easy fitting only add to the value. If I'd ask for one thing it would be for additional mounting slots to cater for unusual or over-sized slider bulges or tight stay-bridges. One more thing; where can I buy rolls of the velcro stuff they include? It's magic!
