'Random' Photo Book, Volume 3 £10

A year's beautiful highlights

BikeRadar score 4.5/5

Random is a high-quality coffee table tome which highlights a year of gravity-fed mountain biking in full Teutonic Technicolor glory.

The photographs are exclusives for this German-made journal and showcase the extreme sides of mountain biking, with dirt jump, downhill and High Alpine freeride action shown in fantastic detail.

The images selected of World Cup downhill races really capture the highs and lows of racing at the top level, while the shots from the Red Bull Rampage are truly awe-inspiring.

The first few chapters focus in on a single photographic work, with some standout images from Manfred Stromberg, Colin Stewart, Daniel Roos and many more. The later chapters feature a free-for-all with a mountain of photographic talent.

Some of the translations from German to English are slightly out of tune, but the photographic eye candy makes up for it, with the super-high-quality print giving an almost HD level of viewing pleasure.

A lithographic leviathan, this is a worthy addition to any coffee table and fantastic for extending that post-ride euphoria.
