BikeRadar verdict

4 out of 5 stars

"The big surprise is that it's... okay. Not great, but great value"

By BikeRadar

That's not a misprint: it really does cost less than six quid. And apart from tearing holes in a bin bag or stuffing a newspaper up your jersey, you won't find a cheaper way of keeping wind off your chest than this.

It is quite heavy and bulky, although it will squash into a jersey pocket. Alternatively, it can be fastened under the saddle with its Velcro tabs. It's cut loose, reflecting its leisure bias, and you should go down a size for a better fit. The hem is only loosely elasticated and the waistcoat-style cinches at the sides don't gather it in enough over Lycra. Saying that, it keeps the wind and drizzle off well enough, which is commendable for the price. There's a storm flap for the zip, a high collar, and the armholes aren't too wide. There's also a mesh back, reflective piping front and rear, and a zipped rear pocket. While it's not great in absolute terms, for this money it's a steal.
