ALTURA MISTRAL review£20.00

These 'dusky purple' gloves are Altura's women-specific windproof models. The lined fleece material is lovely and fluffy on the outside and the gloves look 'civvy' enough for wearing around town or dog walking.

Although they're not full winter gloves, your hands stay pretty cosy on the bike even when wet, and the grippy print palms provide good touchy feely control.

Very pronounced internal seams make them much less comfortable than you'd expect though, and they still feel sharp in places even after plenty of wearing and washing. The tight fit - particularly across the knuckles and back - also reduces finger movement and creates cold spots so make sure you buy a larger size than normal. The soft backs do mean you can make merry with your mucus all over them though if you've left the Kleenex at home.
