When all else fails, the Amfibs will keep you warm on sub-zero rides

We’ve been amazed by the Pearl Izumi Amfib on really cold days, and have no qualms about recommending it as a winter must-have for hardy all-weather riders.

Gloves like the Amfib take over when water turns to ice and more general winter gloves give up. It’s almost too warm for use at temperatures a degree or two above freezing.

It’s twice as thick as the Specialized Radiant, and the sheer insulating power of the extra material means warm hands regardless of what’s happening outside.

Despite the bulk of the Amfib, it’s still surprisingly easy to feel the bar and use the controls while wearing them — just don’t try picking up anything small or smooth, because you can’t get the touch.

Very cold weather means runny noses, and the Amfib has the daddy of nosewipe areas on the back of the thumb. What’s more, the back of the Amfib has a good smattering of reflective print to keep you visible in low light.
