"Light and practical quality waterproof outer shell, if a little pricey"

The Alp X is a simple yet quality breathable waterproof shell made from Gore’s lightweight Paclite material. It can be worn on its own with a base layer in most conditions or works well as a small-packing emergency jacket, fitting easily into a soft shell pocket or backpack. 

It has all the bike essentials including foldaway drop tail, adjustable cuffs, sealed zips and even a roll-out hood, although a neck guard would have been nice on the zip.

While it might look basic it has enough features to be practical and is one of the best in terms of waterprooing and airflow. It’s best suited to all-day trail riders but works well for all types of riding.

    This is the jacket our guide, Lisa, uses for all of her biking and running. She had her own before we issued her with her working kit, and her feedback has been consistently positive. In particular when guiding we need jackets to be robust even when they are lightweight and packable - this has stood up to serious use and abuse over 9 months of very heavy use, and still looks like new. The ripstop fabric has repelled branches and rocks well. Overall we've been extremely happy with the Alp-X range and will be using it throughout 2009.
