Montane Featherlite Velo
BikeRadar verdict
"Perfect for shoving in your jersey pocket when the weather is acting a little unpredictable. In fact, you should take it on every ride, whatever the weather is doing."
Packing down to the size of an apple, the Montane Featherlite jacket is perfect for shoving in your jersey pocket when the weather is acting a little unpredictable. Taken out of the handy bag, it will mould to your pocket shape and you'll hardly notice it. In fact, you should take it on every ride, whatever the weather is doing. If it's hot you can take it for the beer stop on the way home or the inevitable puncture on an exposed windy hilltop. If it's cold, take it as an extra layer in case of emergency, or again for that beer stop on the way home!
The jacket isn't waterproof, but it is showerproof and windproof and feels light when you put it on. We used them all the time on the TransWales last year as an extra layer against the interminable Welsh weather. Ours is loose enough to fit on over a small CamelBak for minimal faffing on the trail, too. The only downside is that it does flap a bit in the wind, but then it's not designed for race-riding but as a backup layer.
