Like the Velez Adventure Light smock, the Quito is made of amazingly soft and waterproof Nikwax Analogy fabric. Rain is repelled by the outer layer, but if any gets through it’s ‘pushed’ back out – along with perspiration – by the inner.
Unlike the smock, the Quito has a full-length zip, making it easier to get on and off, particularly if you’re wearing a helmet, and ventilation comes from two-way underarm zips – we say underarm, but they go from almost halfway down your arm to nearly your waist.
The hood doesn’t fold away, and like the smock the inner pockets are annoyingly hidden behind the vent zips so you have to open the jacket to warm your hands or get at belongings, but it does have two inner security pockets on the chest which are more easily accessible.
The Quito is a slimmer cut than the smock, and the short front/longer rear is perfect on the bike. A small amount of piping on the Raglan sleeve seams front and back helps you be seen.
