"One for the very hottest days, but fiddly pockets were a niggle"

Mavic have turned out some top quality riding kit recently and the Notch is one of the slightly less racey items in their apparel lineup.

While the cut is still trim, it treads the line between rib-stickingly tight and freeride baggy so is spot on for trail days. The open mesh of the Airwick SL fabric ventilates superbly and does a brilliant job of shifting sweat away from the skin. A neatly shaped collar adds a touch of style and the green colourway was made to be worn in the sun.

We found the pocket arrangement a bit awkward – although both cargo slots are roomy, they share a single zip and inevitably we’d place the items we needed in the left hand pocket, meaning we had to fully open the leftwards-opening zip and risk losing what was in the right-hand side while we rummaged for our tea money. Only two pockets also means it’s hard to organise what you’re carrying so it doesn’t end up lopsided.

    Not a bad jersey, quite a nice cut but the material catches really easily and has scuffed up already under the armpits after only a few rides.

    I know the pocket's got a zip to stop stuff bouncing out but it's a pain to use and means you can't just slip your phone or wallet in and out easliy. I bought this for casual use on the road.

    I got Mavic Helium Jersey. up front, the material looks tantilising. It's clearly designed for humid places where the temp goes over the 30s. but thats where the good points end. firstly the price. at a whacking sterling £70 (luckily I got mine for offer under 50) yet still, I didnt consider it a happy purchase. because there are 2 different materials involved, criss crossing black and white here and there, so the result: is a lot of stitching (i mean: alot: too much). what this means ultimately is: great discomfort. really uncomfortable, especially at the lower back, where 3 different panels of material is sewn together...this really got to me. first, the stitching, a set of it, runs parrallel directly down your back and worse, stands erect so more or less, prongs against your skin (not something that should happen for such an expensive jersey---my Giordana at half the price is brilliantly comfortable and good lookin---as a matter a fact, why dont i just say Giordana is king, for price and comfort and looks. In my opinion, Mavic should stick just to wheels. I am not happy at all about the Mavic Helium Jersey. I feel its a waste of time and money. and if i got geeky: this mavic jersey is made in tunisia. All Giordana jerseys are designed and made 100% in Italy. the jewel in the crown. I here rest my case. in casting out my line to try something new, I advertently discoverd it was a worthless and wasteful exercise. Giordana is KING
