Polaris Blake jersey £35

Solid performer

BikeRadar score 2.5/5

This is a basic top but it puts in a workmanlike performance. Despite the lightweight and fairly open weave of the main polyester fabric, the Blake is a warm jersey.

When we tested it in the environment chamber at Sheffield Hallam University, sensors recorded an increase in temperature at each of our skin sites. However it wicks sweat reasonably well and dries out quickly – especially the mesh panels under the arms.

The Polaris has a half-length zip that provides loads of ventilation, and the not-too-tight cut means all that air flows around your body easily when you have it open.

Positioned on either side of your back, the two large, zipped pockets are easy to access from the saddle, although you have to keep them evenly loaded or the whole shirt sits skew-whiff.

The stitching is standard throughout – it’s not quite as comfortable as flatlock seams but nothing rubs particularly – while the reflective print is good for visibility at night.
