Decathlon 600RC Shoes
BikeRadar verdict
"Great value high-end level shoe or commuter with roomy toe box"
Decathlon's own-branded goods are famed for their rock-bottom prices combined with a feel of expert cycling nouse (surprisingly so when compared to their UK counterparts).
The 600RC is obviously aimed at beginners who are just starting out with clip-in pedals but will also make a great commuting or training shoe for those on a tight budget. There's no real reason why this should only be considered a decent entry-level race shoe though when considering some of the designs available a few years ago...
However, in use the differences between this shoe and a mid/high-end design are immediately apparent proving you get what you pay for.
The overall feel is one of soft comfort and a roomy foot box. The Velcro straps work to a degree but won't compress a loose fitting shoe into a piece of svelte racing apparel, so make sure you get the right size.
There's three other budget shoes to choose from and, for those more interested in touring and tea-stops, Decathlon's SPORT 5 touring/ recreation shoe looks like a very practical design for those wanting a more 'traditional' touring shoe with SPD compatibility.
