Shimano MT70 Shoes | $136.47
BikeRadar verdict
"A tough, quality shoe, but low cut means the Gore-Tex liner can’t repay the cost"
Shimano produce a massive range of leisure-styled SPD shoes, but this one packs some real performance into its mild mannered design.
For a start, the shoe gets a sealed sole and Gore-Tex liner to keep you waterproof right up to the cuff. It’s warm too. Water spills over the top fairly easily if you’re not careful in puddles, though, and splash/rain will soon bypass the Gore-Tex, leaving you soggy and wondering why you paid £90.
The custom Vibram sole offers both bags of walking traction and a reasonably firm pedalling platform. The mix of wrapover strap and laces needs a bit of arranging to stopped chewed ends and hot spots, but overall comfort is good, however far you ride.
