Pearl Izumi Pro Shoes | $200
BikeRadar verdict
"Undeniably light and stiff, but the vents are ineffective"
After riding two sportives in Pearl Izumi's Pro road shoes, we can vouch for their superb power transfer and comfort
Rides who use Look pedals or other thee-bolt cleat systems and who want stiffness and lightness in their racing footwear, will like the unidirectional carbon fibre construction and 270g weight.
. Fastening is via two chunky, wrap-over Velcro straps plus a third that uses a nicely engineered ratchet mechanism to ‘lock’ shoe to foot.
It appears that the multiple mesh vents are designed to allow air to escape from the inside only.
These shoes don’t come cheap, but on sportive days they’re the first item chucked into the kit bag.
