If you want race-spec mountain bike shoes with fast looks at a great price, Spiuk's ZS1M shoes are worth a look.

With their nylon and fibreglass soles, the ZS1Ms get round the common complaints about carbon fibre mountain bike shoes.

Some riders find carbon soles give them sore feet, while others prefer to have a degree of feeling through the shoe.

For those people, the Spiuk ZS1is one of the most comfortable and well specced mid- price race shoes we’ve tried.

Synthetic leather and heavy-duty nylon mesh make up the upper, with a reinforced heel cup aiding the feeling of pedalling efficiency.

 The fit is reasonably wide, butnot especially deep. We had to remove the insole to get enough depth for our toes. 

That’s a real shame, because the ZS1 comes with two different insoles, a vented one for summer and a standard one for all other times.

Description:
A micro-ratchet lever provides for millimeter-precision adjustment along with a double Velcro strap for fine-tuning the fit. The ZS1-M Series features a twin component nylon polyamide and fiberglass sole to allow for excellent power transfer to the pedals. The sole’s tread pattern and soft lugs provide excellent traction off the bike in both wet and dry conditions. An outer sole piece on the front outer edge provides additional traction off the bike making this an excellent shoe for cyclocross. The tops are made with synthetic leather-like LivePore micro-fibre and finished with a protective and easily cleanable coating. Ample ventilation is provided with micro-fiber HighFlow mesh. The rear of the shoe features Spiuk’s vented molded double injection heelpiece to stabilize and center the heel for proper support. Features a generous toe box and runs true to size. Compatible with all major pedal systems. Includes two insoles: one for summer and one for winter. The summer insert is light with ample venting and the winter insert features an additional layer of water- and wind-resistant protection to provide an additional shield against the winter elements. Includes two additional removable front spikes and tool.
