"Superb form, function and construction – with a Rapha price tag to match"

These 'tailored plus fours', as Rapha call them, use the remarkable Schoeller Nanosphere fabric, which is surprisingly water and stain-resistant.

They also have a slight stretch to them, which suits their improved slimmer cut over last year. There are belt loops, though I found sizing spot on. The tweed lining inside the two deep front pockets and zippered rears is typically Rapha. More practical touches include buttoned adjustment at the legs and slight padding at the seat - so they perform as good on the saddle as they look off it.

    I've worn a pair of these for commuting for the last year. They are perfect for the ride to work or touring. The material drys quick and the dirt just shakes off.

    My only complaint is that I would have liked some adjustment on the waist.

    I've had black pair for my daily 26 mile commute. Within the first 2 weeks the first layer of stitching opened a little in the leg and I thought the worst. But no, thats as far as things went. They've been fantastic ever since. They are relatively water repellent although by no means water resistant. They dry quickly especially when riding. They are the perfect length for my long pins.

    They could do with a little more padding in the rear but thats it.

    A touch pricey perhaps but I wouldn't let that put you off.

    I wear a pair of these for commuting and recreational (but still quite hard core) cycling and love them. As 'camberwick' above says, water resistant is by no means waterproof, but they dry out very fast.

    The fit is brilliant, if a bit tight until you get used to them, and the attention to detail is second to none.
