Our review
Light and comfy shorts that will look good on or off the bike

Royal Racing’s Matrix shorts tick all the right boxes when it comes to form and functionality. The fit around the waist is great, with ample adjustment courtesy of the two Velcro tabs and the Spandex lower back panel, along with the double popper and zipped fly closure.

The cut is good too, sitting just over the knee and baggy enough to accept kneepads. The outer short is styled nicely and constructed from sublimated polyester which is nice and light, meaning they’ll dry in no time should you get soaked, and it allows for a wide range of unrestricted movement.

Our short liner was a pre-production sample and not quite up to the standard of the production version but still took the sting out of long stints in the saddle. The two open hip pockets offer plenty of room forlighter items and there are vented zip pockets if you’re looking for a little more security.
