Gore Bikewear Oxygen WS bib tights £129.99

Cold weather protection for your legs

BikeRadar score4/5

Expensive, huh? But these are really good tights. The front and side sections are made from Gore Windstopper, a soft shell fabric that not only stops cold air in its tracks but also repels rain and road spray.

Unlike many windproof materials, it’s really stretchy so you get only slight bunching around the knee when you straighten your leg, and it’s got a warm, brushed back that feels soft next to the skin. The Windstopper fabric rustles a bit and isn’t as breathable as the non-windproof panels, but it rarely gets uncomfortably damp.

The contoured Ozon seatpad is a winner too, providing enough breathable cushioning for even the longest stints in the saddle. All the seams are flat-stitched and there are none at all behind the knees to irritate as you pedal.

The high cut back keeps your lumbar region warm while a zip at the front makes those mid-ride emergency breaks that little bit easier. Foot straps stop the ankles riding up and reflective trim gets you noticed. The Oxygen WS is also available with coloured panels (same price) and without a seatpad (£119.99).
