Should the Interbike show be anything to go by - and it should be, given that it's the USA's biggest industry show - then innovations in women-specific kit and clothing are no longer few and far between. We were overwhelmed by the wealth of properly specified, technical products designed for women on display in Las Vegas.

One strong theme was the huge advances in clothing that puts the 'grr' into 'grrrl power'. You want to channel your inner tomboy and show you mean business? Pull on these Tech Pants from newly emerging brand Loeka.

Designed, developed and tested by female downhill riders they look so right we practically ran screaming across the aisles to get our hands on a pair. Moodily slouchy, they not only come with extra attitude but are packed with features too. Durable, waterproof and with long, long leg zips, articulated knees and a rear stretch panel, you'll find yourself wishing for rubbish weather and the chance to wear them.

The Tech Pants will be available from www.minx-girl.com from March 2008.

Also on display was Canadian brand Sombrio. It already has a reputation for its freeride-inspired men's clothing, and is now developing its women's line. One highlight was the Lofter top, made from lightweight, fast-wicking fabric and is semi-loose cut to accommodate armour. Sombrio products are distributed in the UK by Paligap.
