Tektro TRP R950 | $236.64
BikeRadar verdict
"Great performers, lighter and cheaper than Dura-Ace 7900"
You can't fault TRP's construction of its sturdy and dependable R950 brakes. They start out life as a forged ‘skeleton’, then they're wrapped in carbon composite before being baked in the oven – at about gas mark 11!
It’s a good way to make brakes, wrapping a forged alloy unit in carbon fibre, and the result is a dependable pair of stoppers that are quite light, weighing 142g front and 138g rear with full titanium hardware. They also have a silky smooth action thanks to quality Teflon bearings and excellent tolerances.
We’ve put a lot of miles on these without a single problem and the performance is up there with the best.
