SRAM PC-991
BikeRadar verdict
"Smooth shifting, reliable and well priced chain"
Shopping partners
We don't know a single rider who wouldn't recommend using SRAM chains. They come with a master link (a special joining link) for easy and reliable joining, although you can just use the pins supplied. Shifting and reliability is ace and broken SRAM chains are few and far between.
All in all, SRAM chains are fantastic, although, as with most SRAM kit, they're in high demand so it can take a while for shops to get hold of them.

Ok,
Well, what can I say about this chain that hasn't already been said. It is marvelous, it feels strong, responsive and smooth, I fitted it to my XT groupset shortly after snapping my last shimano chain, and without temping fate, its a million times better. Just to note, I have the solid pin version. I wanted a chain that could take my pedal moshing as im quite a hefty 18 stone, so it needs to be tough, and my word is this chain tough. Without doubt I would only ever buy another one of these should it ever break or wear down. the powerlink connector makes chaning an absolute doddle, I was a bit worried at first about it coming loose or not being as strong as other links, but its strong, tough, and best of all incredibly easy to fit.
If your like me and like a few pies while your out cycling but don't relish the thought of having to push your bike home cause your chains snapped then this is the one for you.
It feels safe, the changing its smooth, its strong and easy to fit. What more do you need?
Wu.

Shimano chains are pants!! This is an awesome chain that will deliver the efficiency and longevity you expect from a crucial part of your drivetrain... Highly recommended, and I give this chain a hard life, believe me!

After being a full-on Shimano fan for years (& years) I picked up one of these because it was proper cheap and have to say I've nothing bad to say about it all - which is all you can ask from a chain really!
Lasting really well too.

Abosolute garbage...!
Read this review and bought 2 1 for each bike, because had always had problems with shimano and other SRAM chains. Broke em both within 4 weeks. Added powerlink and went again. Complete bollox
KMC 9 L lasted 10 mths and broke recently at magic link. best chain have ever had. If ur big and stomp get 1 or the wipperman connex has cult status, but wouldn't get a SRAM ever

Add me to the unhappy rider list.
I just bought one, got it changed with the k7 at the bike shop and went on a beach weekend, there I lent the bike to a friend that is willing to make a come back to bicycles, he started to pedal and the chain broke with not one mile of use...
I though it was just bad luck, fixed the chain, went back to riding, 2 weeks later it broken again with me while I was climbing my parking lot ramp, no gear shifting involved...

I havent had too many problems with the chain itself, though the joining links are garbage, you get some that will last until your chain wears out , and the rest will break on the fist or second ride, the problem with the joining links is that around the top of the pin sort of all breaks off, then when you put any pressure on it, it snaps. i'd rather an xtr chain anyday, far more reliable, just take a few sram links with you incase you do bugger your chain.
