Race Face Ride DH X-Type review

The Ride DH is a mongrel, but not in a bad way. RaceFace have taken elements of higher spec cranks, continued to use the X-Type external bottom bracket, and designed a more affordable crankset without too much compromise.

Excellent feel but a little heavy and still not the cheapest around

The Ride DH is a mongrel, but not in a bad way. Race Face have taken elements of higher spec cranks, continued to use the X-Type external bottom bracket, and designed a more affordable crankset without too much compromise.

It's a bit heavy (1.25kg) and the finish isn't as good as on some competitors but it does what it's built for well.

Power transfer and acceleration are excellent, which shows how stiff these cranks are. The arms kick out a little more than most, which can mean rubbing of the inner foot, but it promotes a more stable stance on the bike, which is brilliant for downhill and freeride.
