Shimano XT (M770 series) Shadow rear mech (long cage)

BikeRadar verdict
"Sweet, slick low-profile shifting, once it’s all set up right"
Shopping partners
Unlike XTR, XT Shadow is the same excellent value as conventional XT, which also comes in low normal and high normal spring types, so you can have whatever style of shift you want.
Again Shadow is proving more difficult to set up initially than conventional mechs, but we reckon the hidden profile, lack of frame knock and slightly lighter weight make it the option to go for. Fluorine-coated pins and sealed cartridge bearing jockey wheels give it a slick, quiet shift, and we've properly ground and gouged some mechs in big alpine offs with no ill effects.

i attached this rd to my rigs for 3 months. it has smoother shifting rather than my previous slx shadow. no more frame knock during my aggresive ride, and it makes more confidence on trail.

I've not had a problem with mine... I get rapid shifts, no problems, doesn't hit the frame ever, can't fault mine. I'm very happy with it.... although I only paid £20 for mine :-)

A top piece of kit, light, tough and flawless shifting. its no wonder most of the shimano sponsered pro's use this, even over XTR, its tougher, and not that much heavier.

this was a surprise upgrade for myself, i had paid for a full slx groupset from merlin and went to pick the bike up and first thing i noticed was the shiny xt mech :-))))
very pleased and havent had a problem yet with it, just hoping it lasts longer than my sram mech
