Hayes Disc Brakes Stroker Trail 7in | £125
BikeRadar verdict
"Superb performance makes the new Hayes a top value trail bike"
The Stroker is an important brake for Hayes, because it replaces both the long-running HFX and Mag families. We’ve been testing various sets for a couple of months, and we’re impressed so far.
The new right-angled ‘Radial’ design means a much bigger reservoir, despite taking up much less bar space. The securely shaped lever gets a detented reach-adjusting wheel for easy adjustment, too. Although there’s no bite point adjust, none of our testers really missed it. Overall weight is reasonable.
Hayes power has always been impressive, but the Stroker now adds great control and modulation. The bigger reservoir and pads mean it handles the heat of long descents without worry, making this a really outstanding brake.
The single bolt straight-through post mount design is very neat, pad life is good and bedding-in time short.
The pricing is excellent, too, and even the pimped Carbon version is only £20 more, making the Stroker family a clear value winner in the trail brake category.

User review of Hayes Disc Brakes Stroker Trail 7in
Currently using one of these on my street bike, 7 inch rear rotor trail version of the brake.
Beautiful looking lever, the white compliments the rest of my bike nicely.
Power is awesome, equal if not exceeding that of my old HFX9's with 8 inch rotor and Goodrideg pads!
Slightly more modulation than experienced on previous hayes models, piss easy to set up and pad life seems good so far.
Would recommend to anyone for any discipline. Cannot see you regretting this purchase.

had the carbon versions of these on my bike for about 1 1/2 months now and so far theve been smashing brakes. the power is very good ,modulation is well control'd and they look good in the greyish color which is not a bad match to hope gunsmoke setting up was easy.the brake levers feel really nice and look carbontastic!!
the only trouble i had in setting them up was a rubbing rotor but that was down to me and was easyly.they came ready bled with all bits and bobs needed for a bleed puls a spare pot of dot.the only think i need to buy before fitting was the 7" mounts.really happy with them
