Fox 36 Van RC2 fork review
|$1020
BikeRadar verdict
"Masses of adjustment and super-smooth but a little more travel wouldn’t go amiss"
Shopping partners
As you would expect from Fox, this hard-hitting Van fork comes equipped with a tool-free 20mm through-axle and a stiff chassis that provides pinpoint accuracy when smashing the trail at speed.
The 160mm (6.3in) of coil-sprung travel is buttery smooth, although it takes a couple of rides to break through some initial stiction, and the wide range of compression adjustment and choice of spring weights allows you to tailor the fork to your specific requirements.
The FIT damping gives a supple beginning stroke action that eats up the small bumps and keeps the wheel planted. The progressive feel and consistent stroke the coil spring provides certainly boosts confidence and stability, proving this fork is more than happy tackling the more extreme terrain.
Our sample weighed in at 2.3kg (5lb) with the steerer cut to just under 200mm. It would be great to see a longer travel single crown option; a 180mm (7.1in) TALAS fork would be great.

Yes, Fox are bringing out 180mm 36s in 2011, as we announced last week (http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/fox-racing-shox-launches-2011-line-25759).
But this is a review, and testing a product takes time. As soon as we get hold of some of the new forks and put in some miles on them we'll let you know what we think of them.
In the meantime, here's a review of a product that you can actually buy now and have on your bike in time for summer.

Guys, at the time the review was written for the mag, Fox had not announced the new 180mm fork.
