Marzocchi's MX 'Bomber' series forks have ruled the budget workhorse fork charts for years now, and that's not about to change. Super simple oil bath damping sloshes about inside, lubricating as it goes, making them super smooth over small bumps. Low pressure air springs ramp up just enough to stop ugly thumps over big trail stuff while running slightly different pressures in each leg gives surprisingly effective tuning.

An external rebound adjuster matches your weight/spring rate and despite the MX Pro's simplicity you'll rarely run out of control. Legendary reliability means you'll hardly have to touch them with more than a cleaning cloth either. Even the continual gurgling and squelching as they sieve out the spikes and sharp impacts as you pedal is seen as part of the appeal by most Marzocchi fans as well.

Steel steerers makes them heavy, but that's par for the price, while 30mm alloy stanchions are stiff enough for reliable tracking and hard braking. Slanted drop outs add extra security for loose QRs and they come with removeable V-brake studs, hose clip and chunky metal valve caps, and '07 forks are even cheaper than they were last year too.

85 or 100mm travel, IS or easy fit 'Post' disc mount versions are available, plus 85mm 'Comp' in a 1in steerer size for older bikes.
